Postdoctoral position in molecular neuroscience at the Neurosurgery Clinic, Neurocentret, Rigshospitalet

 

  1. A postdoctoral position within Copenhagen CSF Study Group (www.cphcsf.dk) led by Professor Marianne Juhler is available from Dec1st 2017 or shortly thereafter (3 years, with possibility of a 1-year extension). The research topic relates to molecular mechanisms in brain water transport and their role in hydrocephalus and related clinical diseases. The position bridges clinical contact with patients for consent to and collection of bio-material; laboratory processing including bio-bank registration and storage, molecular analysis; extensive knowledge of conducting projects according to Danish research legislation as well as scientific result analysis and publication of results.

     

  2. Copenhagen CSF Study group focuses on translational research in hydrocephalus and related diseases. Two PhD’s are currently working on clinical projects in ICP regulation and CSF pressure. The posted postdoctoral project is conducted in close collaboration with Department of Neuroscience, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen (Associate Professor Nanna MacAulay). The candidate will expect to work in both a clinical and a laboratory environment.

     

  3. Qualifications: Candidates with a PhD degree in medical science, molecular biology, human biology or similar medical/biological sciences are encouraged to apply. Ability to design protocols and plan/conduct research on human material from collection of material to scientific results is a prerequisite. We expect considerable independence, meticulous research conduct and collaboration skills. Required qualifications:

    1. A PhD degree in natural/medical sciences or equivalent

    2. Documented experience with biobank work and molecular/biochemical processing of human material

    3. Proven ability to present and publish research data

    4. Excellent  English communication skills, both oral and written

  4. Working hours. The offered position is full time 37 hrs/week position. Working hours are during day-time, but material collection- and processing can be required at other hours depending on project design.

  5. Terms of salary and employment: The terms of employment are set according to the Agreement between the Danish Regions and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations or other relevant professional organization.

     

  6. Application procedure. The application must be submitted in English or Danish and must include the following:

    2. Curriculum vitae with a list of publications, a report on previous research undertaken, and the names, addresses and contact details of 2 referees

    3. Diplomas – all relevant certificates, including grades

    4. An outline of how you could contribute scientifically and intellectually to the research of this laboratory (approximately 1 A4 page)

    5. Please note the applicant will be contacted if the assessment committee requires further documentation.

       

  7. Assessment of applications: is performed by an assessment committee with academic qualifications in the field approved by The Neurocenter Director. One of these assessors is associated to Copenhagen CSF Study Group. Qualified candidates will be invited for an interview with an appointed employment committee.
