Associate Professor of Integrative Human Exercise Physiology (211-0534)

The Department of Nutrition, Exercise & Sports (NEXS), University of Copenhagen, invites applications for a position as associate professor in the section Integrative Physiology.

The applicant must be medical doctor and will be medically responsible for and engaged in several invasive human trials in the Section. It is expected that the applicant has significant expertise in cardio-vascular and / or muscular physiology in relation to exercise. The applicant must demonstrate a strong track record in cardio-vascular physiology research related to performance and health. In addition, clinical skills related to investigation of human exercise capacity and plasticity is mandatory. Current research themes in the Section include ‘ageing’, ‘performance & anti-doping’ and ‘health’ and a strong interest and track-record in one or more of these areas will be considered positively.
The candidate must document past success in collaborative research and attracting external funding from e.g. research councils, EU and other funding sources. The ability to engage in cross-disciplinary research projects will also be considered positively. 
The successful candidate must be able to teach human exercise physiology at undergraduate and graduate-level courses. Non-Danish speaking candidates are expected to be able to teach in Danish on an undergraduate level within 3-5 years. 
Applicants are required to have university level teaching experience, documented teaching competencies and must be able to explain and reflect upon own teaching practice and portfolio; focus should be on documented teaching experience and didactical reflections on teaching in cardiovascular physiology. Formal pedagogical training or supervision equivalent to the University of Copenhagen teacher training programme for assistant professors is required.
Duties include the applicant’s own research, development of the field, assessment tasks, grant applications, and research management such as supervision and training of research fellows and other staff. The successful applicant must also teach, supervise, prepare and participate in examinations, and fulfill other tasks requested by the Department.

Assessment of applicants will primarily consider their level of documented, original scientific production at an international level, including contributions to developments in their field, as well as their documented teaching qualifications. Managerial and out-reach qualifications of applicants including ability to attract external funding will also be considered.
The candidate will become a part of a highly productive Section where teaching and research are cornerstones. The successful candidate will gain access to several well-equipped human exercise physiology as well as biochemical laboratories supported by highly skilled technical staff.

Terms of employment 
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
Commencing salary is currently up to DKK 455.206 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 77.840).
Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
