CONSULTANCY IN CLINICAL BIOCHEMISTRY combined with A CLINICAL PROFESSORSHIP in Clinical Biochemistry with special focus on Genetics in Respiratory Diseases.

A clinical position as consultant of Clinical Biochemistry at the Department of Clinical Biochemistry at Zealand University Hospital is open for appointment from as soon as possible.

The position is combined with with a 5-year externally funded position as Clinical Biochemistry with special focus on Genetics in Respiratory Diseases at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

With this new position the Department of Clinical Biochemistry, Zealand University Hospital wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.

It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Region Zealand is one of the five regions in Denmark. Comprising 17 municipalities, the Region encompasses an area of 7,273 square kilometers with a Population of 821.000.

Zealand University Hospital - the main hospital of the region - is the center of both specialized treatments and educational activities.

In accordance with the Hospital Scheme 2010 of Region Zealand, the Zealand University Hospital in Køge will be the main hospital gathering all specialized treatments of the region.

By 2022 Zealand University Hospital, Køge will be the undisputed main hospital of region Zealand, Denmark, gathering all specialized treatments as well as educational and learning environment for medical staff.

The university hospital will be the center of clinical development and clinical co-operation between the hospitals in the region. The treatment profile will be developed in duality with the other five hospitals in the region. The Hospital has an important learning environment for all types of medical staff.

DEPARTMENT OF CLINICAL BIOCHEMISTRY AT ZEALAND UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, KØGE AND ROSKILDE.

The Department of Clinical Biochemistry with sections in Køge and Roskilde produce a wide variety of specific laboratory test results, which are important for the diagnosis of diseases and the treatment of patients. By using a diverse range of biochemical, molecular biological and cellular techniques, we perform laboratory tests on many kinds of bodily fluids, especially on different blood components.

RESEARCH AND TEACHING

With the new position as consultant in Clinical Biochemistry and clinical professor of Clinical Biochemistry with special focus on Respiratory Genetics the Department of Clinical Biochemistry wishes to further strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Clinical Biochemistry.

CONDITIONS

In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Zealand University Hospital.

Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.

As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of Clinical Biochemistry. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full time secretary position from the department of Clinical Biochemistry. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the department Clinical Biochemistry, Zealand University Hospital.
