READVERTISEMENT - A Consultancy in Foetal Medicine combined with a clinical professorship in Foetal Therapy and Surgery

A clinical position as
consultant in Foetal Medicine at the Juliane Marie Centre at Rigshospitalet is
open for appointment from as soon as possible.
The position is
combined with a 5-year Novo Nordisk Foundation funded position as clinical
professor of Foetal Therapy and Surgery at the Faculty of Health and Medical
Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
With this new
position, the Juliane Marie Centre at Rigshospitalet wishes to strengthen the
leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the
University of Copenhagen.
It is a requirement
that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and
the consultancy.
About the department:
The Center of Foetal Medicine
at Rigshospitalet is the national center for all intrauterine invasive
procedures, such as laser treatment of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, blood
transfusions, drainage and cord occlusion. Further the Center offers prenatal
screening and diagnosis to the local catchment area. The Center of Foetal
Medicine works in close collaboration with other departments at Rigshospitalet.
Clinical functions and
focus areas of the Center of Foetal Medicine
The Center of Foetal
Medicine at Rigshospitalet performs about 22,000 ultrasound scans in pregnancy
yearly, about 500 chorionic villus samplings and amniocenteses, and
approximately 100 other invasive procedures.
Research and
teaching:
The department of obstetrics
considers research an area of priority and has over the years been able to
obtain significant international recognition for its research which among other
areas includes screening for foetal chromosomal anomalies and congenital
malformations, as well as prediction and prevention of preterm delivery. The
Center of Foetal Medicine has been instrumental in performing randomized
clinical trials of invasive procedures, as well as developing and assessing the
safety and quality of foetal medicine treatments. Research in teaching and
training ultrasound scanning has also been an integral part of the center’s
work over the past years. On this background it is expected that the Consultant
will actively contribute to the Center of Foetal Medicine’s research focus
areas and prioritize integration of research activities into the daily clinical
work.
With the new position
as consultant in Foetal Medicine and clinical professor of Foetal Therapy and
Surgery, the Juliane Marie Centre wishes
to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be
board-certified specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology , and have significant and
documented clinical experience within foetal medicine. Further, documented
research experience in the area of foetal medicine is a requirement.
The Consultant is expected to
participate in the Center of Foetal Medicine’s clinical work – including the
highly specialized treatment areas.
Conditions:
In order to be
considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the
professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously
advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the
fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the
applicants who are already employed as consultants at Rigshospitalet.
Salary and conditions
of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the
Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region
Zealand and University of Copenhagen.
As clinical professor
at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g.
research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in
agreement with the Head of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of
Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement
with the head of the Juliane Marie Centre. The clinical professor will receive secretarial
or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full time secretary position from
the Juliane Marie Centre. Additional support and details on the working
conditions must be negotiated with the head of the Juliane Marie Centre at
Rigshospitalet.
