Position as PhD student, Department of Infectious Diseases, Rigshospitalet
We are looking for one or two full-time PhD students for a project at Department of Infectious Diseases, Rigshospitalet. The project will focus on: Immune function as predictor of clinical outcome in patients undergoing liver or kidney transplantation.
As PhD student, you will be centrally involved in inclusion of patients in a protocol that utilizes novel functional immunological analyses (TruCulture). TruCulture is established at Department of Clinical Immunology, Rigshospitalet, to monitor patients with immune deficiencies and from where data for research will be drawn, with a focus on infectious complications in solid organ transplant recipients.
You will work in close collaboration with clinical and laboratory departments at Rigshospitalet involved in solid organ transplantations and closely together with PERSIMUNE, a Centre of Excellence appointed by the Danish National Research Foundation (www.persimune.dk).
The PhD projects will focus on infections in patients undergoing liver or kidney transplantation.
The PhD positions are initially for a one year period where you and key researchers will prepare a research protocol forming the basis for the submission of a PhD application to the University of Copenhagen. The application should be submitted within 6 months of the hiring date. Depending on the outcome, the position will be extended for the duration of the PhD study.
The supervisors for this PhD position will be medical doctors and biostatisticians/bioinformaticians with experience in infectious diseases, clinical immunology and solid organ transplantation. The supervisors will oversee the development of the PhD application and act as advisors during the course of the PhD study.
Qualifications
You are a trained physician and have documented research experience. Knowledge of infectious diseases, liver- or kidney diseases, biostatistics or clinical immunology and experience from research collaborations will be viewed as an advantage. You have excellent IT and communication skills and are able to use English as working language. Conditions
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with current public agreements between the Capital Region of Copenhagen and AC. Your work place will be Department of Infectious Diseases at Rigshospitalet.
The position is funded by research grants.
