PhD position in biostatistics at the Research Unit of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Centre & the Section of Biostatistics at the University of Copenhagen Denmark
Using latent variable models to optimize the measuring of treatment effects in randomized clinical trials and in practice in child and adolescent mental health services.
The statistical research will be conducted at the
Section of Biostatistics, in close collaboration with the Research Unit of the
Child and Adolescent Mental Health Center, University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
The PhD student will be part of a larger research team at both departments,
where you will find a dynamic, inspiring and supportive working environment.
Your colleagues will be researchers conducting either statistical research or
public health and mental health research at a high international level.
Project description
The purpose of the PhD project is to evaluate the use
of latent variable models for measuring treatment effects in randomized
clinical trials and in clinical practice in child and adolescent mental health
services and prevention. The research will be conducted as part of a grant for
the Mind My Mind study, (ClinicalTrials.gov NCTO3535805), which is a multi-disciplinary and collaborative effort
to adapt current evidence-based treatments to large-scale implementation for
school children in the municipalities. The data will be obtained from the
ongoing randomized controlled, parallel group, superiority trial comparing
treatment as usual (TAU) with a new modular and flexible, cognitive and
behavioral therapy (Mind My Mind, MMM) for children aged 6-16 years with
anxiety, depressive symptoms and/or behavioral difficulties. The trial will end
the inclusion of the children (n=412) by December 2018. The PhD student will
have baseline data for statistical analyses already in February 2019 and
outcome data already in July 2019. Part of the project will consist of the
analysis of these data in accordance with the prespecified statistical analysis
plan. Thereafter, the development and testing of new statistical methodology
with latent variable models will be the main research focus. A PhD project
description is ready but can be tailored to the interests of the successful
candidate.
Organization
The PhD student will be affiliated to the Section of
Biostatistics and to the Research Unit of the Child and Adolescent Mental
Health Center, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. The principal supervisor of the PhD project
will be associate professor, PhD, Karl Bang Christensen. Further project
supervisors will be statistician, PhD, Corine Baayen from Biometrics Division,
Lundbeck, and Pia Jeppesen, associate professor, PhD and senior consultant in child
and adolescent Psychiatry.
The PhD position includes an obligation to provide
research-based teaching and consulting within the areas of biostatistics to
other researchers in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Center. The
teaching and advising in applied statistics will be limited to three hours per
week including time needed for own preparation and supervision.
