Consultancy in clinical oncology combined with a clinical professorship in clinical oncology with special focus on Individualized Treatment of Breast Cancer
A clinical position as consultant of clinical oncology at the Department of Oncology at Rigshospitalet is open for appointment from as soon as possible.
The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of Clinical Oncology with special focus on Individualized Treatment of Breast Cancer at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
With this new position the Department of Oncology, Rigshospitalet wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The department handles all non-surgical oncological treatment modalities of patients from Greater Copenhagen (Region Hovedstaden) as well as a number of treatments of patients from other parts of Denmark including radiation therapy of patients from Bornholm and the region of Zealand (Region Sjælland). Furthermore, the department has a national function with regard to rare cancer diseases as well as phase 1 and early phase 2 trials at the departments Phase 1 Unit. Finally, the department has an out-patient consulting function on the island of Bornholm and in Greenland.
Clinical functions and focus areas of the department of Oncology
The Department of Oncology is divided into 5 diagnostic teams. Moreover, the department has a Radiotherapy Unit, a Palliative Unit, a Phase 1 Unit, and a Clinical Research Unit, which perform tasks within all diagnostic teams.
The department values a high quality within all treatment modalities, a high degree of continuity in the doctor-patient relationship, robust multidisciplinary cooperation, clinical training of junior doctors, and optimal cooperation between physician, nurses and secretaries.
Research and teaching
With the new position as consultant in clinical oncology and clinical professor Clinical Oncology with special focus on Individualized Treatment of Breast Cancer the Department of Oncology wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.
Qualifications
Applicants must be board-certified specialist in clinical oncology.
Conditions
In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Rigshospitalet.
Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region and University of Copenhagen.
As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of Department of Oncology. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full time secretary position from the Department of Oncology. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the Department of Oncology, Rigshospitalet.
