Consultancy of Plastic Surgery combined with a clinical professorship in Plastic Surgery with special focus on Reconstructive Surgery
A clinical position as consultant of Plastic Surgery at the
Department of Plastic
Surgery and Burns Treatment at Rigshospitalet is now open
for appointment.
The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery with special focus on
Reconstructive Surgery at the
Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
With this new position the Department of Plastic Surgery and Burns Treatment, Rigshospitalet wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical
research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment
of both the professorship and the consultancy.

ABOUT THE “HovedOrthoCentre”
The “HovedOrtoCenter” is one of 4 centres at Rigshospitalet and
provides a broad range of surgical specialities, Department of Orthopaedic
surgery, Department of Ear- Nose and Throat surgery (ENT department), Department
of Ocular diseases, Department of Rheumatology and Back diseases, Department of
Occupational- and Physiotherapy, Department of Odontology, level 1 Trauma
centre and Department of Plastic Surgery and Burns Treatment.
Most of the Departments in the centre will move to the new North
Wing of the hospital at the end of 2019.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF
PLASTIC AND BURNS TREATMENT
The Department of Plastic Surgery and Burns Treatment covers all
aspects of the plastic surgery speciality. The department is divided into 4 sections:
Section of Oncological plastic surgery (melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer),
Section for Burns treatment, Section for Cleft lip and pallet, Section for
Trauma and Reconstructive surgery (incl. microsurgery). The Department have an
excellent collaboration with the Department of Breast surgery, Herlev Hospital.
They have a section of the department located at Rigshospitalet.
The Department also handles the surgical aspects of the treatment of
transgender patients.
The Department of Plastic surgery is looking for a person who is
able to manage a broad spectrum of treatments in the field of plastic and
reconstructive surgery, with focus mainly on reconstructive and oncological
plastic surgery in the broadest sense.
Research and teaching
With the new position as consultant in Plastic Surgery and clinical
professor of Plastic
Surgery with special focus on Reconstructive Surgery the Department of Plastic Surgery and Burns Treatment wishes to
strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.
Qualifications
Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Plastic Surgery.
Conditions
In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to
both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf.
the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. It is a condition that
the applicant holds both positions. This also applies to any applicants who are
currently employed as consultants at Rigshospitalet.
Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed
between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists
and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.
As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be
allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and
communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of
Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining
time will be allocated clinical work in agreement with the head of Plastic Surgery and Burns Treatment. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical
support equivalent to 50 % of a full time secretary position from the
department of Plastic
Surgery and Burns Treatment. Additional support and
details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the
department of Plastic
Surgery and Burns Treatment, Rigshospitalet.
