RE-ADVERTISEMENT Clinical professor in neurology (combined position)

A combined position as Clinical Professor (50%) or Clinical Associate Professor (40%) depending on qualifications is vacant at the Department of Regional Health Research, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and as consultant (50% or 60% if qualified as associate clinical professor) at the Focused Research Unit, Department of Neurology, Hospital of Southern Jutland, respectively. Physical attendance at the Hospital of Southern Jutland will be expected in regard to both positions. The position is for a 5 year period with the possibility of extension.  
 
The academic position  
The professor or associate professor will be appointed at the Department of Regional Health Research, Faculty of Health Sciences, SDU. The position will be in clinical neurology, and focus could include one of the prioritized areas: movement disorders, dementia, stroke and multiple sclerosis where the department has specialized functions. Generel areas within the field of neurology such as headache, epilepsy, functional disorders and neurophysiology and others are also possible depending on the qualifications of the applicant.  
 
Area of responsibility  
The professor or associate professor will be responsible for initiating and developing clinical research in the selected area and implementation of the results in close collaboration with the management of the department. The professor or associate professor will also be responsible for establishing and expanding research collaboration in the region, national and international. The post implies supervising PhD-graduate and teaching undergraduate students.  
 
Qualifications  
The preferred candidate has a PhD and is qualified as consultant in neurology or neurophysiology, has demonstrated skills and scientific achievements within this area, is able to motivate, supervise, teach and has proven research management skills, good collaboration and interpersonal skills and has visions of how to further strengthen the Focused Research Unit in Neurology.

The clinical position  
The clinician will be appointed at the Department of Neurology at the Hospital of Southern Jutland as a consultant and must fulfill the requirements and responsibilities of a consultant in a neurological department.

Department of Regional Health Research, Faculty of Health Sciences, SDU, is a “brick-less” clinical department with collaborative researchers positioned at all the regional hospitals in the Region of Southern Denmark and in the Region of Zealand.  
Hospital of Southern Jutland consists of 3 hospitals in the Southern part of Jutland. The hospital has international staff representing many different nationalities. Currently, the scientific staff comprises approximately 40 employees and is expanding in the coming years. The hospital has obligations in teaching and educating medical students, master students, specialist training and PhD students.  
University Hospital – Acknowledgement of high-quality research and education Hospital of Southern Jutland is now University Hospital in the Region of Southern Denmark. From 2022 the scientific personnel will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students at in the Hospital of South West Jutland in Esbjerg.  
 
Employment in Denmark  
Foreign applicants will be offered Danish language training as part of the employment. In the local area there are international schools and high schools for children and adolescents as well as a nursery by the hospital in Aabenraa. Salary and terms of employment  
The successful applicant for the clinical professor position will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
