Clinical professor in diabetes (combined position)

A combined position as clinical professor
in diabetes with function as program leader and as consultant in endocrinology
is vacant at the Department of Clinical
Research/ and at the Department of
Regional Health Research,
Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark, and at the Steno Diabetes Centre Odense or at another clinical diabetes unit at
one of the Steno Partner hospitals, respectively.
The two combined posts are considered as
one entity.
Allocation of time between the clinical professorship and the consultancy is
50/50%.
The Steno Diabetes Center Odense (SDCO)
has been created in a collaboration between the Region of Southern Denmark and the Novo Nordisk
Foundation and is
located at Odense University Hospital.
The new professor will refer to the Head
of Research at SDCO (Professor Kurt Højlund) and will be part of the SDCO's
research council team.
The new professor must have a strong
record in the field of clinical diabetes research with special focus on
clinical intervention trials. The professor will be expected to initiate
large-scale clinical trials in the area of obesity and Type 2 diabetes, in
relation to e.g. clinical testing of organization, prevention, pharmacology,
bariatric surgery etc. The professor and consultant must be a specialist in
endocrinology and highly qualified within the field of diabetes.
SDCO comprises an array of research
programs each run by a program leader, and this position will include such
program leadership. Program leaders refer to the Professor/Head of Research.
Initially, at least two positions as PhD students and/or post-docs will be made
available for the professor.
The new professor must ensure that SDCO
attracts substantial research funding from external sources in relation to the
research program in question.
