Consultant in pediatric oncology/hematology with special focus on CNS tumors

A position as consultant at the Department of Pediatrics, Aarhus University Hospital (AUH), Denmark, is available from August 1, 2019.

The consultant will be part of the pediatric team in oncology and hematology preferable with a special responsibility for the diagnostics and therapy of CNS tumors in children.
The management of CNS tumors is in close collaboration with neurosurgeons and the newly opened Danish Center for Particle therapy at AUH.

The consultant will also take part in the general management of children with malignancies including occasional rounds on Saturdays. No out of hours duties.

Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at AUH is a university department and one of the largest departments within pediatrics in Denmark.

The department has 71 beds, 6.500 admissions, and 25.000 outpatient visits per year. The total number of doctors is 75 including 6 professors and 30 consultants.

The division of pediatric oncology receives about 50 new patients with malignancies per year. The number of patients will increase by 20-30 when the proton therapy center opens for children summer 2019. All types of malignancies are treated at the department; however, allogeneic stem cell transplantation is not. The division of pediatric oncology holds two professors, four consultants, and three senior fellows.

Courses in Danish will be offered if the position is given to a person who does not speak Danish. English will be the daily language until the consultant speaks Danish.

We are looking for a colleague with a documented broad experience in pediatric oncology and preferable in the management of CNS tumors. Documentation of scientific activity within pediatric oncology is requested. Depending on interest and qualification the position may be combined with a position as associated or full professor.

Salary will be according to the Agreement with the hospital and the Association of Consultants. The applicant needs a valid authorisation and a clean criminal record. Also a minimum of five years of experience is required as a medical specialist in order to work as a consultant.
