Consultancy in infectious diseases combined with a clinical professorship in Infectious Diseases with Special Focus on Chronic Viral Infections in Vulnerable Populations
A clinical position as consultant in infectious diseases at the Department of Infectious Diseases at Amager and Hvidovre Hospital is open for appointment from as soon as possible.
The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of Infectious Diseases with Special Focus on Chronic Viral Infections in Vulnerable Populations at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
With this new position the Department of Infectious Diseases, Amager and Hvidovre Hospital wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Organisation and focus areas of the department
The Department of Infectious Diseases is highly specialized medical department with 24 patient beds including 2 beds for intensive care. The department has both the main function and highly specialized function in infectious diseases. The outpatient clinic provides treatment and investigation of patients with chronic viral diseases such as HIV and hepatitis, tropical and infectious diseases. In addition, the department has a diagnostic unit for diagnosing patients with symptoms of serious illness that could be cancer. The department is also responsible for the Capital Regions Clinic for Migration Medicine. The department participates in the management of patients with general internal medicine disorders in the Hvidovre Hospital admission area.
Clinical functions
Regarding clinical duties these are expected to be consultancies 2.5 days weekly for outpatients as well as patients on the ward. In addition, there will be obligations to go rounds in the department during weekends and public holidays.
Research and teaching
With the new position as consultant in infectious diseases and clinical professor of Infectious Diseases with Special Focus on Chronic Viral Infections in Vulnerable Populations the Department of Infectious Diseases wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.
Qualifications
Applicants must be board-certified specialist in infectious diseases.
Conditions
To be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Amager and Hvidovre Hospital.
Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.
As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of the Department of Infectious Diseases. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full-time secretary position from the Department of Infectious Diseases. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Amager and Hvidovre Hospital.
