Consultancy in Respiratory Medicine combined with a Clinical professorship in Respiratory Medicine with special focus on severe dyspnoea and respiratory infections

A clinical position as consultant of Respiratory Medicine at the Department of Internal Medicine at Herlev-Gentofte Hospital is open for appointment from as soon as possible.

The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of Respiratory Medicine with special focus on severe dyspnoea and respiratory infections at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
 

With this new position the Department of Internal Medicine, Herlev-Gentofte Hospital wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.

It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Organisation

The department of Internal Medicine at Herlev-Gentofte Hospital takes pride in providing safe patient diagnostics and treatment and has thereby achieved a reputation for a high degree of patient satisfaction. Key elements in achieving this have been identified as patient and family involvement, as well as patient and staff secureness, coordination cross specialties and sectors and being an attractive work environment.

 

Clinical functions and focus areas of the department

The section for Respiratory Medicine includes highly specialized functions within complicated lung infections, Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease, Interstitial Lung Diseases and Lung Infiltrate diagnostics.

 

Research and teaching

With the new position as consultant in Respiratory Medicine and clinical professor of Respiratory Medicine the Department of Internal Medicine wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching. It is an important vision for the department that clinical research and daily practice of medical diagnostics and therapy work in a closely linked interplay. Biomarker-guided therapy has shown to have many strengths, and several examples already exist of randomized controlled trials within the field of acute pulmonary infections and acute dyspnoea, coordinated and done in the department, that has subsequently been implemented in clinical life. We wish to push this development forward to further success, thereby supporting and encouraging personalised medicine solutions for patient with lung diseases.

 

Qualifications

Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Respiratory Medicine.

 

Conditions

In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Herlev-Gentofte Hospital.

 

Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.

 

As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of the department of Internal Medicine. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full time secretary position from the department of Internal Medicine. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the department of Internal Medicine, Herlev-Gentofte Hospital.
