A clinical position as consultant of Nephrology at the Department of Medicine at Copenhagen University Hospital – Zealand University Hospital Roskilde is open for appointment from as soon as possible.
The position is combined with a 10-year position as clinical professor of Internal Medicine: Nephrology at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
With this new position the Department of Medicine at Copenhagen University Hospital – Zealand University Hospital Roskilde wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Medicine at Copenhagen University Hospital – Zealand University Hospital Roskilde has regional function within pulmonary medicine, infectious disease medicine and nephrology and receives acute and elective patients in these specialties as well as acute patients within the main internal medical field.
The ward primarily handles specialized functions within the three branch specialties, while inpatients with general, non-specialized disorders are predominantly handled at the region's other hospitals. In the Medical Department, we have 3 in-patient wards with a total of 49 beds and an extensive outpatient production with approx. 50,000 annual consultations.
The Medical Department also includes a Medical Diagnostic Center and the dialysis wards in Roskilde and in Nykøbing Falster.
The department medical staff per. August, 2021 is 21 chief physicians and 7 staff specialists with specialist medical certifications in allergology, infectious disease medicine, pulmonary medicine, nephrology and general medicine, respectively. In addition, the department has 15 junior doctors/residents.

Clinical functions and focus areas
You will be part of the existing, strong specialist team within nephrology, which consists of 8 chief physicians (of which one is specialist manager) and 4 staff specialists.
You will have a versatile function across bed sections, outpatient clinics and dialysis sections. We offer a varied everyday life in a comfortable work climate, characterized by collegiality, mutual respect, professionalism, and with good opportunities for professional challenge and development.
We expect you to contribute to strengthening and further developing the nephrological specialty in mutual collaboration with both doctors and interdisciplinary with nursing staff, medical secretaries and other professional groups.
As chief physician, responsibility of a specific clinical area can be appointed according to area of interest and competencies.
The specialists take part in the nephrology specialist on-call duties and the joint internal medicine on-call duties with a total frequency of approx. 4 shifts per month. The on-call duties are organized out of hospital after daily hours.
You can also expect to participate in clinical functions at the hemodialysis section and outpatient clinic at Nykøbing Falster Hospital approximately twice a month.
Research and teaching
The Medical Department has a well-established and growing research unit with 2 research lecturers and a shared clinical professorship. The department has 6 PhD active students. There are 2 nephrology research lecturers, and several of the nephrology specialists are active within research. We consider research and innovation an important part of the tasks at a university hospital.
Zealand University Hospital collaborates with the University of Copenhagen. The Medical Department handles clinical teaching of medical students for the 3rd semester bachelor and 3rd semester candidate in accordance with an agreement with the University of Copenhagen. In addition to the research lectureships, the department has four clinical lectureships in the department's specialties.
Medical training is a high priority area. The department has ongoing specialist training for doctors in Introductory positions, as well as specialist training for general medicine and five internal medical specialties.
Overall, the department places emphasis on creating a good educational environment for all doctors with the opportunity for professional sparring and development.
With the new position as consultant and clinical professor of Internal Medicine: Nephrology the Department of Medicine wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.
Qualifications
Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Internal Medicine: Nephrology.
Emphasis is placed on:
• Good collaborative skills, both mono- and interdisciplinary
• Clinical experience and professional qualifications
• Teaching and pedagogical qualifications
• Scientific curriculum
Conditions
In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Zealand University Hospital.
Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.
As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department and Institute of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of Department. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full time secretary position from the department of Medicine. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the Department of Medicine at Zealand University Hospital.
