Consultancy in paediatric anaesthesiology combined with a clinical professorship in Anaesthesiology
A clinical position as consultant of paediatric anaesthesiologist at the Department of Anaesthesiology at Juliane Marie Centre, Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet is open for appointment from as soon as possible.
The position is combined with a 10-year position as clinical professor of Anaesthesiology at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
With this new position the Department of Anaesthesiology at Juliane Marie Centre, Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

Clinical functions and focus areas of the department:
The department provides a wide range of services in the area of paediatric critical care, perioperative management of neonatal, paediatric, obstetric and gynaecological population and is a training and teaching centre of excellence.
Furthermore, the department hosts a paediatric pain centre which specifically supervises and provides paediatric pain treatment and assists in pain-related procedures.
The department has a close collaboration with departments of paediatrics, paediatric surgery, other anaesthesia departments at the hospital as well as intensive and neonatal care services.
In addition, the department has a large vascular access service (i.e., wide range of tunnelled and non-tunnelled catheters in adults and paediatrics) for-treatment of cancer diseases.
The department primarily assists in perioperative management and anaesthesia of:
- Children admitted for urological and gastrointestinal surgical procedures, congenital abnormalities, haematological/oncological population, imaging diagnostics, interventional radiology and radiation therapy and other departments at the hospital.
- Gynaecological and robotic procedures such as endometriosis and cancer diseases (i.e., cervical, ovarian and disseminated and advanced types).
- Obstetric population > 6000 deliveries annually.
- A wide range of services for oncological and haematological children and adults.
Research and teaching
With the new position as consultant in paediatric anaesthesiology and clinical professor of Anaesthesiology the Department of Anaesthesiology wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.
Qualifications
Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Anaesthesiology.
Conditions
In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) for the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Rigshospitalet.
Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.
As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of the department. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full-time secretary position from the department of Anaesthesiology. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the department of Anaesthesiology at Juliane Marie Centre, Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet.
