Consultancy in Haematology or Clinical Oncology combined with a clinical professorship in Haematology or Clinical Oncology with special focus on Clinical Lymphoma Research

A clinical position as consultant of Haematology or Clinical Oncology with special focus on Clinical Lymphoma Research at the Department of Haematology at Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet is open for appointment from as soon as possible.

The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of Haematology or Clinical Oncology with special focus on Clinical Lymphoma Research at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

With this new position the Department of Haematology at Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.

It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Haematology is a specialized medical department with 40 patient beds, and three large outpatient clinics and day hospitals, covering all aspects of haematology both benign and malignant diseases and treatment with allogenic stem cell transplantation and CAR-T cells. The department has a big clinical trial unit which also has a large portfolio of phase 1 trials. The phase 1 unit is renowned worldwide including amongst pharmaceutical companies. The phase 1 unit is under the leadership of Department of Oncology. The applicant will have responsibility for haematological phase one trials conducted in the phase 1 unit in close collaboration with physicians in the Oncology Department.

There are in total 65 physicians in the department. The specialists are divided into teams according to their subspecialty (lymphoma, myeloma, myeloid/benign and allogeneic stem cell transplantation). The applicant for this position will be part of the lymphoma team

Clinical functions and focus areas of the department: All aspects of haematology are covered in the department, including diagnosis and treatment of all haematological malignancies and benign diseases including haemoglobinopaties and bleeding disorders. Several research groups are based in the department and cover research within multiple myeloma, lymphoma, myelodysplastic syndromes, acute leukemias, erythrocyte diseases and aspects of allogeneic stem cell transplantation. Several physicians are responsible for the conduction of clinical trials within all major disease groups.

Research and teaching

With the new position as consultant in Department of Haematology and clinical professor of Haematology or Clinical Oncology with special focus on Clinical Lymphoma Research the Department of Haematology wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.

Qualifications

Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Haematology or Clinical Oncology, with comprehensive knowledge and experience within haematological malignancies.

Conditions

In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet.

Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region and University of Copenhagen.

As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of Department of Haematology and will include clinical duties in the Phase 1 clinical trial unit and in the outpatient clinic for lymphoma patients. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full time secretary position from the department of Haematology. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the Department of Haematology, Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet.
