Consultancy in urology combined with a clinical professorship in urology

A permanent position as consultant of urology at the Department of Urology at Roskilde Hospital is open for appointment from as soon as possible.

The position is combined with a permanent position as clinical professor of urology at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

With this new position the Department of Urology, Roskilde Hospital wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.

It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Organization

The department of urology, Roskilde Hospital is responsible for approximately half of the urological patients in Region Zealand. This entails more than 4000 hospitalized patients a year and about 16000 out-patient visits. The department has more than 15 operating rooms available on a weekly basis and 5400 surgeries are performed each year. This includes advanced treatment of urinary tract stones, kidney cancer, and superficial bladder cancer. There is access to state-of-the-art endourological equipment including holmium and green light lasers and advanced instruments for percutaneous kidney stone removal and ESWT. For laparoscopic surgeries the department has access to the Da Vinci robotic surgical system.

Focus areas

With the combined consultancy and professorship the Department of urology, Roskilde Hospital wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen. The new professor is expected to develop a long-term research plan based on the clinical functions of the department. It is the ambition to have the Department of Urology, Roskilde Hospital represented at all major national and international urological conferences and to publish research from the department in recognized peer-reviewed journals.

Qualifications

Applicants must be board-certified specialist in urology and have a strong academic record.

Conditions

Only applicants for the position as clinical professor of urology at University of Copenhagen can apply for this position. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant applies for and obtains both positions.

Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.

As clinical professor at least 50% of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of the Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of the Department of urology, Roskilde Hospital. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50% of a full time secretary position from the department of Urology, Roskilde Hospital. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the department of urology, Roskilde Hospital.

The succesfull applicant will have access to individual research funding support (3 million DKK) from the Zealand Region Professiorial Research fund.
