Senior researcher position combined with a clinical professorship in Clinical Epidemiology

A clinical position as senior researcher (MD) of clinical epidemiology at the Department of Clinical Epidemiology at Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital is open for appointment from as soon as possible. 
 
The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of Clinical Epidemiology at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. 
 
With this new position the Department of Clinical Epidemiology (by January 1, 2018, Center for Public Health and Clinical Epidemiology), Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen. 
 
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the clinical position. 
 
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT 
Department of Clinical Epidemiology is composed of clinical and non-clinical research staff with expertise in epidemiological methods and medical statistics. The department is responsible for close collaboration with the clinical departments at Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital in research projects dealing with patient care, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, e-health and prediction of short - and long-term prognosis. By ensuring direct contact and interaction between the medical and methodological specialists, research processes are optimized with gained value for patients, hospital, and community. The presence of both clinicians and non-clinicians in the department’s research activities creates a highly stimulating and effective research environment. By January 1, 2018, the department is united with other regional departments in a large research center for public health and clinical epidemiology. 
 
With the new position as senior researcher and clinical professor of clinical epidemiology, the Department of Clinical Epidemiology wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching in this field. 
 
Qualifications: 
The successful applicant should be able to: 
  • Demonstrate a record of original scientific research at a high international level, including considerable contributions to the development of the subject area 
  • Document ongoing international collaborations 
  • Document formal pedagogical qualifications through a record of teaching in medicine 
  • Document general research management experience  
  • Document ability to communicate research results to the public  
  • Document ability to raise funding 
The successful candidate should also be enterprising and possess good interpersonal skills. 
 
Conditions: In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the position as senior researcher [MD] in clinical epidemiology) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as senior researchers at Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital. 
 
Salary and conditions of employment as senior researcher MD are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen. 
 
The professor’s duties will primarily consist of: 
Research, including obligations with regard to publication and scientific communication 
Research leadership as well as educational guidance and supervision of junior researchers 
Research-based teaching  
Communication of research results to the public 
Peer assessment
