Consultancy of psychiatry combined with a clinical professorship in Psychiatry wsfo. Psychotherapy, Psychiatric Hospital, Slagelse

 

A clinical position as consultant of psychiatry at the Department of Psychiatry West at Psychiatric Hospital, Slagelse, is open for appointment from as soon as possible.

The position is combined with with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of Psychiatry wsfo. Psychotherapy at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

With this new position the Department of Psychiatry West, Mental Health Services – Region Zealand wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.

It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Organisation

The department is led by the department management, two chief physicians and one chief nurse, in close collaboration with the team management group.
 

Clinical functions and focus areas of the department

The department has 4 bed units with a total of 68 beds, 1 emergency unit with 12 beds, outpa​tient clinics, community mental health services, outreach services and specialized treatment.

In order to incorporate specialist knowledge and experience in the organisation and management as well as possible, the department has developed a management structure with team formation and team management. A team management exists for each ward and outpatient department, comprising a lead nurse and a consultant.

Research and teaching

Mental Health Services – Region Zealand has obtained good results in psychotherapy research, and the intention behind the new professorship is to focus even more on this field.

Psychotherapy is a leading form of treatment in the field of psychiatry, and in recent years evidence-based forms of psychotherapy have been developed for almost all psychiatric conditions. The target groups will be patients with psychotic episodes, anxiety, depression and personality disorders.

With the new position as consultant in psychiatry and clinical professor of psychiatry the Department of Psychiatry West and Mental Health Services – Region Zealand wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.

Qualifications

The applicant must be a specialist in psychiatry and must have a documented, broad-ranging psychiatric educational background and professional expertise in general psychiatry with a special focus on psychotherapy.

Documented research skills are also required.

Conditions: In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at XX Hospital.

Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.

As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of Psychiatry West, Slagelse. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full time secretary position from the department of Psychiatry West, Slagelse. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the department of Psychiatry West, Slagelse.
