Consultancy in Obstetrics
and Gynaecology combined with a clinical professorship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with special focus on Clinical
Obstetric Epidemiology and Risk Factors
A clinical position as consultant of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at
the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Amager Hvidovre Hospital is open for appointment from
as soon as possible.
The position is combined with with a 5-year externally funded position
as clinical professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology with special focus on
Clinical Obstetric Epidemiology and Risk Factors at the Faculty of Health and
Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
With this new position the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology,
Amager Hvidovre Hospital wishes to
strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration
with the University of Copenhagen.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment
of both the professorship and the consultancy.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Organisation
The department has around 430 dedicated employees, consisting of
doctors, midwives, nurses, nurses’ assistants, secretaries, social workers,
psychologists etc.
It is headed by an executive committee consisting of the chief
medical head of staff, the chief nurse, and the chief midwife.
The department consists of 11 divisions including labour ward,
prenatal ward, postnatal ward, obstetrical outpatient clinic, foeto-maternal
clinic, operating theatre, gynaecological department, gynaecological outpatient
clinic, gynaecological emergency admissions, fertility clinic. Each division is
headed by two or three clinicians (doctors, nurses, midwives).
Clinical functions and
focus areas of the department
The department is the largest OB/GYN department in Denmark with
close to 7,000 deliveries every year. In accordance with this there is a huge
outpatient and foeto-maternal activity.
It is a well-organized, busy unit with very good quality and
results.
We are highly specialized in pregnant women who have undergone
bariatric surgery and in pregnant women with social/psychological problems,
including women with dependency on drugs (legal or illegal).
On the gynaecological side the department focuses on benign, minimal
invasive surgery – laparoscopy and hysteroscopy.
We have an emergency gynaecological outpatient clinic, where 25 – 30
patients are seen every day – day, evening, and night.
The clinical work will include function in the obstetrical part of
the department including labour ward work, work at the prenatal and postnatal
ward, the emergency obstetrical ward and the operation theatre.
There are 4 doctors in the department around the clock, two
specialist doctors (one obstetrician, one gynaecologist, two trainees) and an
extra experienced trainee from 3 to 11 pm.
Research and teaching
With the new position as consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
and clinical professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology with special focus on
Clinical Obstetric Epidemiology and Risk Factors the Department of Obstetrics
and Gynaecology wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and
teaching.
Our research focus is among other things on fertility treatment,
dysplasia of the cervix, premature labour, and birth asphyxia.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Conditions: In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application
to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy)
cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is
conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also
applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Amager
Hvidovre Hospital.
Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed
between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists
and between the Capital Region and University of Copenhagen.
As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be
allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and
communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of
Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be
allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent
to 50 % of a full time secretary position from the department of Obstetrics and
Gynaecology. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be
negotiated with the head of the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Amager
Hvidovre Hospital.
