PhD-student to Nykøbing Falster Hospital

One position as PhD-student is open at Nykøbing Falster Hospital by 1 December 2018. Nykøbing Falster Hospital serves the population of Lolland, Falster and part of Southern Zealand. It is a general hospital specialized in treatment of patients with acute diseases, and it is open non-stop. The PhD-position form part of a strategy to strengthen the hospital’s research profile, and the candidate will become a part of a newly established research center. BIOMARKER PROFILES AND ALL CAUSE MORTALITY

Life expectancy is low in Lolland-Falster; almost 6 years lower than in the rich suburbs north of Copenhagen. It is the purpose of the project to determine the association between a biomarker risk score and all cause mortality. The project will use data from three population-based health surveys. The Lolland-Falster study; the Næstved-study; and the Greater Copenhagen study. In all three studies blood samples and physiological measurements have been taken and analysed. This rich database will form the basis for the project.

PROFILE

We seek a candidate interested in internal medicine and/or clinical biochemistry, but also other specialities can be of relevance. Principle supervisor for the PhD-study will be Professor Elsebeth Lynge, Nykøbing Falster Hospital and co-principle supervisor will be Professor Stig Bojesen, Herlev Hospital.

SALARY AND EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

Salary according to the collective agreement. The employment is a 3 year fixed-term position. The candidate will be enrolled as a PhD student at the University of Copenhagen, and employed at Nykøbing Falster Hospital, which also will be the daily workplace.
