Consultancy in Urology combined with a clinical professorship in Urology

A permanent clinical position as consultant at the Department of Urology at Rigshospitalet is open for appointment from as soon as possible.

The position is combined with a permanent position as clinical professor of Urology at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

With this new position the Department of Urology, Rigshospitalet wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.

It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The department of Urology at Rigshospitalet is a multi-faceted and multi-disciplinary department with a majority of clinical functions within the field uro-oncology. Activies range from general evaluation and assessment of possible urological malignancies in the local population to being tertiary referral centre for adult patients with complex uro-oncologic conditions, offering all modalities of operative treatment and follow-up.

Furthermore, the department is a part of the Transplant Centre at Rigshospitalet, performing kidney transplantations in adults and children, taking part in organ procurement and in the living donor programme.

Other close collaborators are the Trauma Centre and the Centre of Spinal cord injuries from where we treat a large group of patients with neuro-urological conditions.

Research and teaching

With the new position as consultant in Urology and clinical professor of Urology the Department of Urology wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.

Qualifications

Applicants must be board-certified specialists in Urology.

The applicants must be experienced in basic urology, as well as be subspecialised in one or more of the focus areas of the department mentioned above, including evaluation, operation and follow-up of these patients. A broad experience in different operational techniques will be valued, including open, conventional laparoscopy and robot-assisted laparoscopy.

Leadership and cooperative skills are a prerequisite to this appointment.

An applicant with extensive research activity and clinical experience in the core services of the department will be preferred.

The position is associated with 24-hour shifts. Consequently, experience with urological traumatology and organ procurement will be highly weighted.

Conditions

In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Rigshospitalet.

Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region and University of Copenhagen.

As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of the Institute Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of Department of Urology. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full time secretary position from the Department of Urology. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the Department of Urology, Rigshospitalet.
