Consultancy in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Herlev and Gentofte Hospital, combined with a clinical professorship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with special focus on Urogynaecology

 

A clinical position as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital (located in Herlev) is open for appointment from as soon as possible. 

 

The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology with special focus on Urogynaecology at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. 

With this new position the Department wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.

 

It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment to both the professorship and the consultancy.

About the department  

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is one of the largest in Denmark including around 5500 deliveries a year as well as a high activity regarding Gynaecology including Urogyneacology, Human Reproduction and Fertility, benign and oncological Gynaecology in three different teams.

 

The Urogynaecological team is one of the largest in Denmark, it covers the whole spectrum of urogynaecological conditions and has a patient intake of approximately 2000 a year which is increasing over the next years. In accordance with the Danish Health Authority’s Specialty Plan, the clinic is a tertiary centre and performs highly specialized functions such as anal incontinence, vesicovaginal fistulae, urethral diverticula etc. Furthermore, the clinic handles several regional functions such as TVT/TOT and recurrent prolapse. In accordance with the Danish Health Authority’s Specialty Plan there is a formal cooperation with the departments of urology and gastroenterology regarding OASIS patients and with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Hillerød regarding Botox treatment of patients with OAB. Presently, we have ph.d.-students affiliated and a GCP certified research nurse. The clinic is involved in both national and international research and development cooperation.

 

 

Research and teaching

With this new position as consultant in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and clinical professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology with special focus on Urogyneacology the Department wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.

 

 

Management at the Department

The department is led by a team comprising of the head of department, the chief nurse and the chief midwife. The professor consultant will refer to the head of department. 

All three teams /subspecialties have their own leaders including in Urogynaecology the professor, a consultant and the clinic nurse.

 

 

Qualifications 

Applicants must be board-certified specialists in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.  

For applicants with a foreign license also a copy of a certificate of specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology is recognised.

 

 

Conditions 

In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital.

 

Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.

 

As a clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full-time position from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital.
