A position as consultant at Department of Haematology, Aarhus University Hospital with attached clinical professorship in internal medicine: Haematology at Department of Clinical Medicine, Aarhus University, is vacant, and employment can start upon agreement.
 
Department of Haematology is a university hospital department with teaching and research obligations at Aarhus University, Health. The department is located at Aarhus University Hospital, Palle Juul-Jensens Boulevard.
 
Department of Haematology has the regional function for Central Denmark Region, and is a referral centre for North Denmark Region and Region of Southern Denmark. The department has three outpatient clinics: Clinic 1 is divided into a myeloid, lymphoid and a multiple myeloma team; Clinic 2 is the diagnostic unit and finally a transplantation clinic. Moreover, the department hosts the centre for haemophiliacs in the western part of Denmark for patients with acquired or hereditary haemophiliac diseases.
 
The department has a transplantation bed ward with 12 beds and another bed ward with 31 beds. Department of Haematology has approximately 18,000 bed days annually and average length of stay is 5.7 days; approximately 32,000 outpatient contacts annually.
 
The department has own laboratory facilities with flow cytometry, molecular genetics and cancer cytogenetics units, respectively. The department also has a clinical research unit initiating approximately 10-15 new clinical studies annually.
 
The department educates all staff groups within the healthcare sector, including pre- and post-graduate training of doctors. Research spans from basic research to clinical and epidemiological research.

About the position
We wish to recruit a consultant with high professional competencies within the area of haematology and documented scientific research activities at international level. Emphasis is put on experience from a haematological university department with highly specialised functions, on experience as a leader in research as well as experience in teaching. Furthermore, the applicant must possess high academic honesty and integrity, be ethically conscious, have the ability to collaborate and respect collaborators. The applicant is expected to be visionary, open, have decision-making skills, a high level of professionalism, ambitious and a clear profile within the field of haematology.
 
 
Together with the other professors at the department, the clinical professor is responsible for the department’s research. Together with the other professors and associate professors, the applicant is expected to ensure coherence and collaboration across the sub-specialities at the department in an active and productive research environment.
 
The clinical professor is expected to participate actively in the solution of cross-disciplinary tasks. The clinical professor is part of the management together with the other consultants and have a shared responsibility to ensure optimal running and development of the department.
 
The position as a clinical professor will be divided between 50% clinical work and 50% university-related functions in accordance with ”Agreement on professors and academic coordinators in the area of health in Central Denmark Region”, May 2018 (”Aftale om professorer og akademiske koordinatorer på sundhedsområdet i Region Midtjylland” af maj 2018).

Salary and terms of employment
In accordance with current collective agreements.
