Clinical Research functions and focus areas of the department

The vision for Clinical Research is to carry out world class research for the benefit of all people with diabetes and people at high risk of developing the disease. Clinical Research consists of 5 research groups, namely Complications Research, Clinical Epidemiology Research, Systems Medicine Research, Translational Type 1 Diabetes Research, Translational Type 2 Diabetes Research, Clinical Diabetes Prevention, and Diabetes Technology Research.

You will be allocated to the research group in Complications Research. This group aims to extend the lives of people with diabetes with good quality years of life by preventing late complications. They therefore investigate new treatments in clinical studies and combine them in some studies with biomarkers to target the treatment. The effect of treatment is assessed on biological endpoints, but also patient-reported effects are important. It is their ambition to involve people with diabetes in research at all levels, including examining preferences and working on shared decision making.

Your tasks will include investigating and providing support to person-centred nursing care of people with diabetes in multidisciplinary inspired surroundings. The multidisciplinary and co-productive approach between healthcare professionals and people with diabetes and mutual projects across Clinical Research, Health Promotion, and Education are prioritized and highly valued.
