Consultant positision in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Herlev and Gentofte Hospital, combined with a post as Permanent Clinical Professor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
A permanent clinical position as Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital (located in Herlev) is open for appointment as soon as possible.
The position is combined with a permanent position as chair professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
With this position the Department of Gyneacology and Obstetrics, Herlev and Gentofte Hospital wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment to both the professorship and the consultancy.

About the department
The Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Herlev and Gentofte Hospital is located at Herlev Hospital and is one of the largest in Denmark including around 5600 deliveries a year led by an obstetric team in cooperation with the team of fetal medicin as well as a high activity regarding gynaecology including urogyneacology, human reproduction and fertility, benign and oncological gynaecology led by three different teams.
Clinical functions and focus areas of the department
The Urogynaecological team is highly specialized and one of the largest in Denmark, it covers the whole spectrum of urogynaecological conditions and has a patient intake of approximately 2000 a year which is increasing over the next years. In accordance with the Danish Health Authority’s Speciality Plan, the clinic is a tertiary centre and performs highly specialized functions such as anal incontinence, vesicovaginal fistulae, urethral diverticula etc. Furthermore, the clinic handles several regional functions such as TVT/TOT and recurrent prolapse.
The Gyneacological team (benign and oncological) include a broad spectrum of emergency patients, gynaecological ultrasound at a very high level, minimal invasive surgery as well as laparoscopic and robottical surgery. Moreover, the department take care of patients with HBOC (hereditary breast and ovarian cancer) in cooperation with Rigshospitalet.
The Human Reproduction and Fertility clinic perform all kind of fertility treatment including egg donation with special interest in patients with PCOS and surgical examination and treatment.
The Obstetric and Fetal Medicin clinics do have all kind of obstetric examination and deliveries.
The Staff include around 375 employees; among them some 40-45 specialists including professors and 26 - 28 trainees, 4-6 Ph.D. students, and the department educates medical students.
Research and teaching
With this new position as consultant in Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and permanent chair professor at the Department of Clinical Medicine at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching on top of already existing research. The main research areas are urogynaecology, human reproduction/laboratory research, GDM and PCOS. The department has 2-3 young clinical professors and 6-7 associate professors covering the research areas together with upcoming younger scientists both Ph.D. students as well as post.doc doctors and scientists.
Qualifications
Applicants must be board-certified specialists in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
For applicants with a foreign license also a copy of a certificate of specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology is recognised.
Conditions
In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Herlev Hospital.
Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.
As a clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the head of department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the medical head of Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital. The permanent clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full-time position from the Department of Gyneacology and Obstetrics at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the medical director of department.
