Consultancy in Obstetrics and Gynaecology combined with a clinical professorship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
A permanent clinical position as consultant of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Amager and Hvidovre Hospitals is open for appointment from as soon as possible.
The position is combined with a permanent position as clinical professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
With this new position the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Amager and Hvidovre Hospitals wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Organisation
The department is a large obstetrical and Gynaecological unit with the largest delivery ward in Denmark, delivering more than 7000 babies every year. There are approximately 450 employees in the department, 80 of them are medical doctors.
The department is led by a management group consisting of the Head midwife, the Head nurse, and the medical Head of Department.
Clinical functions and focus areas of the department
The clinical focus areas of the department are obstetrics – focusing on strengthening normal, vaginal delivery, preeclampsia, intrauterine growth restriction, preterm delivery, epidemiological obstetrics, personalized medicine in pregnancy, delivery, and postnatal period and Gynaecology – focusing on minimal invasive surgery (laparoscopy and hysteroscopy), cervical dysplasia, urogynaecology, repeated pregnancy loses, and vulvar diseases .
Research and teaching
Right now, there are two professors of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the department. With the new position as consultant in of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and clinical professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Amager and Hvidovre Hospitals wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.We have a large turnover of medical students in their last period of their university education. We have also a substantial amount of postgraduate teaching with 30- 35 doctors not yet specialists of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Qualifications
Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Conditions
In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Amager and Hvidovre Hospital.
Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.
As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Amager and Hvidovre Hospitals. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full-time secretary position from the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Amager and Hvidovre Hospitals.
