PhD student position in primary PCI guided by intravascular ultrasound in patients with STEMI
A PhD position is available in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, Department of Cardiology at the Heart Center, Rigshospitalet.
During the latest 30 years, primary PCI (PPCI) has become a routine operation in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). The procedure removes the thrombus, stent the vessel and salvage myocardium.
The specific aim of the position is to characterize and compare, primary PCI guided by intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) with angiography guidance.
Responsibilities and tasks
The PhD student will work directly with patients and assist in the intracoronary imaging. The PhD student will be involved in conduction of the clinical study (iSTEMI) and under supervision be responsible for collection of data, management of data and statistical data evaluation. The PhD student will be directly involved in academic writing and reporting of the data in scientific journals.
Projected start date: September 1st 2021 or when convenient.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have qualifications or experience within one or several of the following areas:
- Clinical experience
- Research related to healthcare data from registries and electronic patient records
- Research related to randomized clinical trials
- Competence in statistics and/or machine learning techniques
Formal requirements
To be accepted for the position, it is a condition that you have a degree as – or considered to be equivalent to - a Danish Medical Doctor and have an authorization to work as a Danish Medical Doctor.
It is a prerequisite that the PhD candidate is enrolled as a PhD student at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences according to the rules stipulated in the Ministerial order on the PhD program at the universities (PhD order) from the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Higher Education and the guidelines for the PhD program at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences.
Terms of salary and employment
The salary and appointment terms will be as a clinical assistant according to the Agreement for Junior Doctors agreed between Danish Regions (Regionernes Lønnings- og Takstnævn) and The Danish Association of Junior Doctors (Yngre Læger). The candidate will be employed at the Heart Center, Rigshospitalet.
