Consultancy in Copenhagen University Hospital - Nykøbing F. Hospital combined with a clinical professorship in Anaesthesiology

A clinical position as senior consultant of Anesthesiology at the Department of Anesthesiology at Copenhagen University Hospital - Nykøbing Falster is open for appointment as soon as possible.

The position is combined with a 10-year position as clinical professor of Anesthesiology at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

With this new position, the Department of Anesthesiology, Copenhagen University Hospital - Nykøbing F. wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.

It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Organization:

Copenhagen University Hospital - Nykøbing F Hospital is a hospital that treats adults and children with acute medical and surgical diseases and traumas, supporting a population of 150.000 people. In the summertime, the services expand due to at least 30.000 tourist in the area. Furthermore, the hospital has outpatient clinics and planned operations.

The Anesthesiology Department has an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with seven beds, five intermediary beds and cover seven operation rooms, where we deliver anesthesia for orthopedic, abdominal, obstetric and gynecological surgery.

Clinical functions and focus areas of the department

As a consultant, you work as team leader and supervisor and treat patients either in the ICU or at the operation theater at your choice.   

The consultancy is in daytime during weekdays with the opportunity to work nightshifts if so desired.

Research and teaching

With the new position as consultant in Anesthesiology and clinical professor of Anesthesiology, the Department of Anesthesiology wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research, development of the specialty, innovation and teaching including simulation. The department teaches medical students as well as young doctors to be specialist. The department is involved in numerous research projects and the instigator of the Safe Brain Initiative.

The department hosts international workshops and masterclasses in which you will play a central part. 

Qualifications

Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Anesthesiology, and have substantial experiences in research, knowledge in project management and education.

Conditions

In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship.

Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who already are employed as consultant at Nykøbing F. Hospital.

Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.

As clinical professor, at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of the Department of Anesthesiology. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full time secretary position from the  Department of Anesthesiology.  Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the Department of Anesthesiology, Copenhagen University Hospital - Nykøbing F. Hospital.
