Consultant in paediatric oncology/hematology, Aarhus University Hospital

A position as consultant at the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medecine, Aarhus University Hospital (AUH), Denmark, is available at the soonest or by agreement.
 
The consultant will be part of the paediatric team in the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, Aarhus University Hospital. The consultant will take part in the general management of children and adolescents with malignancies and there will be an option to focus on a specific area according to interest and previous experience. A part time clinical and research position is also a possibility depending on interest and qualifications.
For non-Danish speaking consultants no out of hours duties apart from ward rounds on Saturdays once every 4-6 weeks. The working hours are family friendly as known for the Nordic countries.

The division of paediatric oncology receives about 60 new patients with malignancies per year and another 15 patients receiving treatment at the proton therapy center. All types of malignancies are treated at the department as well as benign haematology and haemophillia.
Allogeneic stem cell transplantation is not performed at the department. The unit holds 12 beds allocated to oncology and an integrated outpatient clinic.

The division of paediatric oncology holds one professor, five consultants, and four senior fellows under subspecialisation. There is an integrated research unit in the center employing six research nurses assisting with protocol related work and several research projects.
The center is strongly involved in national and international networks within paediatric haematology and oncology.

Courses in Danish will be offered if the position is given to a person who does not speak Danish. English will be the daily language until the consultant speaks Danish.

Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine at AUH is a university department and one of the largest departments within paediatrics in Denmark. The department has 71 beds, 6.500 admissions, and 25.000 outpatient visits per year. The total number of doctors is 80+ including 5 professors, 31 consultants, 29 staff-specialists and a variable number of younger doctors in educational positions.

We are looking for a colleague with a documented broad experience in paediatric oncology. Documentation of scientific activity within paediatrics oncology is requested. Depending on interest and qualification the position may be combined with a position as associated or full professor.
