PhD position in long-term health effects of fetal exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals at Department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Bispebjerg Hospital

Do you have an interest in environmental and reproductive epidemiology, statistical analyses, and causal inference? Would you be excited to work on an international research project with researchers from high-ranking American universities? Then this could be the position for you.

The project, which is done in collaboration with Aarhus University, the National Research Centre for the Working Environment, Lund University, Yale University, Boston University, Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus and U.S. National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, aims to determine the importance of fetal mixture-effects of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) for later health. Specifically, it will assess combined maternal exposure to 22 omnipresent EDCs during early pregnancy and potential associations with development of reproductive, metabolic, cognitive, and pulmonary disorders in offspring. The project utilizes the Fetal Programming of Semen Quality (FEPOS) cohort, where data has already been collected and prepared. The project is fully financed by the International Research Fund Denmark.

  • Experience with management, linkage and analyses of Danish registry data and administrative databases (e.g. the Danish National Patient Registry) will be an advantage
  • Experience with more complex statistical analyses (e.g. mixture effects models) will be an advantage

Workplace

You will be based at the Department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine’s research unit at Bispebjerg Hospital, Copenhagen, headed by Sandra Søgaard Tøttenborg who will also act as primary supervisor. The research unit offers an exciting and dynamic workplace in an internationally renowned research environment within a wide range of subject areas. The staff includes two associate professors, a professor emeritus, a statistician, five senior researchers, two PhD students, and two research assistants.
