Consultancy in Fetal Medicine in combination with professorship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with special focus on medical education and clinical learning

A permanent position as consultant in the Centre of Fetal Medicine, Department of Obstetrics, Copenhagen University Hospital Rigshospitalet, is open for appointment from as soon as possible.

The position is combined with a position as clinical professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology with special focus on medical education and clinical learning at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

With this new position the Department of Obstetrics, CAMES, and the University of Copenhagen wish to strengthen and consolidate the leadership in postgraduate medical education research.

It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

About the department:
The Center of Fetal Medicine at Rigshospitalet performs about 22,000 ultrasound scans in pregnancy yearly, about 500 chorionic villus samplings and amniocenteses, and approximately 100 other invasive procedures.

Job description

The consultant’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

  • Providing clinical service to the highly specialised patient population handled by the Foetal Medicine Unit.
  • Leading and managing pre- and postgraduate training in ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
  • Developing, leading and implementing technologies (e.g. methods based on deep learning) for automated quality assurance of ultrasound examinations conducted within the Department of Obstetrics.
  • Leading and organising simulation-based and clinical training of new clinicians in obstetric ultrasound.

Required qualifications

The applicant must:

  • be a board-certified specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
  • have documented experience with leading and organising ultrasound training.
  • have experience working in fetal medicine.
  • possess good interpersonal and communicative skills.

Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region and University of Copenhagen.

As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) at Copenhagen Academy for Medical Education (CAMES) Rigshospitalet. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full-time secretary position from CAMES Rigshospitalet.
