Consultancy in Psychiatry combined with a clinical professorship in Psychiatry with special focus on Immunopsychiatry

A clinical position as consultant of Psychiatry at the Psychiatric Center Copenhagen, The Mental Health Service of the Capital Region is open for appointment from as soon as possible.

The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of Psychiatry with special focus on Immunopsychiatry at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

With this new position the Psychiatric Center Copenhagen, The Mental Health Service of the Capital Region wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.

It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Psychiatric Centre Copenhagen is the largest centre of the Mental Health Services in the Capital Region of Denmark. The centre employs app. 1200 staff and house a very strong research environment currently consisting of 8 professors and more than 100 active researchers. The centre has 253 beds and 11 outpatient clinics along with being responsible for a number of specialised regional and scientific functions.

Clinical functions and focus areas of the department

The clinical consultant position is based at the psychiatric outpatient clinic in Frederiksberg. The position consists of professional medical management, including managing specific patient care pathways, providing medical input to the clinical team, and planning the individual patient care pathways based on the FACT method in close cooperation with the interdisciplinary staff. Additionally, the consultant will supervise junior consultants, and actively promote and integrate research activities and results in the clinic. It is expected that the consultant initiates and actively participate in various projects, including, but not limited to, implementation of relevant research results.

Furthermore, the position includes strategic and administrative management. The consultant is expected to cooperate closely with the management of Psychiatric Centre Copenhagen in relation to the outpatient clinic and ensure the implementation, documentation, and adherence to current guidelines and instructions.  

The clinical consultant is expected to engage in the centre’s focus on increased integration between research and clinical treatment. Clinicians are expected to participate actively in research projects and Psychiatric Centre Copenhagen prioritise research projects based on experienced clinical challenges. The successful candidate is expected to participate in and initiate concrete projects to facilitate a general and specific strengthening of the quality of patient treatment and care. The outcomes of these activities are expected to be implemented in such a way that they contribute to the professional development of the broader group of health care professionals.    

The clinical consultant will also be expected to play an active role in the group of professors, which contributes to the overall development of patient treatment and care.

Research and teaching

With the new position as consultant in Psychiatry and clinical professor of Psychiatry with special focus on Immunopsychiatry the Psychiatric Center Copenhagen wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.

Qualifications

Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Psychiatry.

Conditions

In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at the Mental Health Service of the Capital Region.

Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.

As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of Psychiatric Center Copenhagen. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full time secretary position from the Psychiatric Center Copenhagen. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the Psychiatric Center Copenhagen.
