2 Full-time Research assistants in Eating Disorders
Mental Health Center Ballerup seeks two research assistants for the Eating Disorders Research Unit.
Research in eating disorders is a highly prioritized research area of the Mental Health Services in the Capital Region of Denmark. We have a strong commitment to perform research at the highest international level with the aim of providing new insights into what causes eating disorders and better treatments for patients.
The Eating Disorders Research unit is currently comprised of 6 staff members (administrator, senior researcher, research nurse, clinical researcher, research coordinator). The unit has several international collaborations with the UK, US, Sweden, Germany, Switzerland.
The position
As research assistant you will support Prof Micali in leading a large grant and related workpackages, you might pursue a PhD.
You will join a growing research group and work under the supervision of Prof Micali. You will be responsible for managing the daily operations of multiple research projects. You will apply your knowledge, enthusiasm and skills to initiate, coordinate, and manage research projects; and to develop protocols and procedures for human research studies.
You will contribute to recruitment of participants and help develop strategies for participants recruitment. You will develop collaborations and partnerships with clinical staff and other collaborating research teams.
You work closely with the head of research and other team members.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all aspects of a research project, including writing ethical application and relevant protocols.
- Recruit project participants.
- Liaise between the project centre and remote project sites and personnel.
- Ensure that research material is handled in accordance with established protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct literature searches.
- Carry our data collection, data analyses and dissemination of findings
About the Eating Disorders Section
Since 2017, treatment of all adult patients with Eating Disorders in the Capital region has been located at Mental Health Centre Ballerup, and around one thousand patients are referred for treatment each year, making it one of the largest clinics for Eating Disorders in the world.
The Eating Disorder Section is situated in new buildings and consists of the research unit and four clinical units – an outpatient clinic, a day care section, an open ward, and a closed ward – and employs around 150 health professionals.
Qualifications
The ideal applicant will be highly motivated to drive and pursue research in eating disorders, organized and enthusiastic.
Necessary qualifications/skills:
- Master’s degree in clinical psychology, public health or neurosciences
- Experience in effective project management and co-ordination.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated strong communication, and presentation skills.
- Self-directed, proactive and timely in the management of the assignments.
- Prior experience in research in eating disorders
Conditions:
The position is open for appointment as soon as possible.
Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organization.
The position is a fixed-term position for three years with possible extension.

About the Mental Health Center Ballerup
Mental Health Center Ballerup is a part of Copenhagen University Hospital and one of nine departments, that provide treatment for mental disorders in the Capital Region of Denmark. The department consists of ten inpatient wards comprising 157 beds, nine outpatient clinics with several specialized functions and three research groups. We employ around 90 medical doctors and 80 psychologists in addition to nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and technical and administrative staff.
