Consultancy in Cardiology combined with a clinical professorship in Cardiology with special focus on Hypertension and Cardiovascular Prevention

A clinical position as consultant of Cardiology at the Department of cardiology at Holbæk Hospital is open for appointment from as soon as possible.

The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of Cardiology with special focus on Hypertension and Cardiovascular Prevention at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

With this new position the Department of Cardiology, Holbæk Hospital wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.

It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Department of Cardiology at Holbæk Hospital is part of Medicin 1, which also has a Department of Nephrology and a Department of Endocrinology.

Department of Cardiology receives a wide variety of both acute and ambulatory cardiologic patients. We have three sections:

• Outpatient Clinic

We have more than 15.000 visits every year and clinics with trained nurses in heartfailure, arrhytmia, rehabilitation, lipidtreatment, antikoagulation and hypertension

• Cardiological Ward

We have 23 beds with heart monitors for patients who need admission

The ward has a very high flow of patients with more than 2000 admissions every year.

• Cardiological Dayhospital

We are 18 consultants and around 6-9 residents.

We have an innovative and research-oriented Department, and we want to strengthen that further.

We are well equipped within echocardiography and we do Cardiac CT and MRI in collaboration with the Department for Imaging.

Clinical functions and focus areas of the department

Your functions will be primarily at the Outpatient Clinic seeing patients in the Clinics for rehabilitation or hypertension. But according to your interests it will be possible to have functions in other areas as well e.g., rounds in the ward, doing echocardiography etc.

Research and teaching

With the new position as consultant in Cardiology and clinical professor of Cardiology in the Department of Cardiology, Holbæk Hospital we wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.

Qualifications

Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Cardiology.

Conditions

In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Holbæk Hospital.

Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.

As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of Department of cardiology at Holbæk Hospital. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full-time secretary position from the Department of cardiology at Holbæk Hospital. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the Department of cardiology at Holbæk Hospital.
