We are looking for a full-time PhD student for the programme ”Management of Post-Transplant Infections in Collaborating Hospitals”(MATCH). The MATCH programme has been implemented at Rigshospitalet to optimize the handling of viral infections after solid organ and haematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Your research will be focused on infectious complications after transplantation. You will be centrally involved in the international collaborations between MATCH, the Swiss Transplant Cohort Study and University Health Network Transplant Research Center in Toronto.

The position involves a clinical aspect, where you will take part in the daily clinical management of viral infections among transplant patients as part of the MATCH programme. This will be performed in close collaboration with specialists within transplant medicine and infectious diseases. In addition, teaching and training activities will be part of the position.

The position is initially for a one-year period where you and key senior researchers will prepare a

research protocol forming the basis for the submission of a PhD application to the University of

Copenhagen. The application is expected to be submitted within 6 months of employment. Upon successful evaluations and inscription as PhD-student the position will be extended for additional 3 years.

The supervisors for this PhD position will include medical doctors,  biostatisticians, bioinformaticians, or other researchers with experience within the scientific area. The supervisors will oversee the development of the PhD application and act as advisors during the PhD study. You will also work closely with people of different professional backgrounds.

MATCH is run by Centre of Excellence for Health, Immunity and Infections (CHIP), which is an academic research center at Rigshospitalet. CHIP is a leader in the field of coordinating and conducting international clinical and observational research involving patients with HIV or other infectious diseases.
