About the Prehospital Center, Region Zealand
The foundation of Emergency Medical Services in Region Zealand consists of a finely meshed network of pre-hospital resources consisting of: ambulances, paramedic-manned ambulances, paramedic-manned emergency vehicles, physician manned emergency unit (inclusive the Pre- and interhospital transport unit PIT vehicle) and emergency medical helicopter. In addition, there are supplementary pre-hospital resources in areas with special needs.
The emergency response takes care of the pre-hospital emergency healthcare action in Region Zealand. As a rule, the intervention begins with a call to 1-1-2 and often ends with a transfer to a hospital with handover to the healthcare staff at the hospital.

This intricate network used to transport patients to a relevant hospital is sustained by another network consisting of all the Hospitals involved. Especially the Emergency Departments has an extended collaboration with the Emergency Medical Services fine tuning the workload in the Emergency Departments across the region every day.

Moreover, the Emergency Medical Services has over the years added on to their initial portfolio and are now assisting other Services in the Region treating the patients in their own homes. This collaboration is developed with the Primary Care and E-Hospital (A hospital unit who delivers hospital treatments in the patients home) and the Psychiatry, where Advanced Paramedics deliver defined services in accordance with the Primary Care and E-Hospital and the Psychiatry.

Collaboration and focus areas of the Prehospital Center
We wish to employ a consultant with deep knowledge of the Emergency Medical Services and Emergency Medicine. Who is motivated and has energy for strengthening and developing research in prehospital and emergency medicine, both in relation to the patients and the organisation.
The number of patients transported to the hospital and the diverse tasks the Prehospital Center takes upon itself is increasing and therefore this calls for new ideas, and for rethinking of our daily work in the entire health sector in Region Zealand. There will be a need for strong collaboration within all the departments, in the region, and with all the stakeholders who deliver patients to the Prehospital Emergency Medical Services and there by the Emergency Departments. We wish to focus on patient related quality of living and innovation.

Research and teaching
With the new position as consultant in Prehospital Emergency Medicine and clinical professor of Prehospital Emergency Medicine with special focus on epidemiology, the Prehospital Center wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.

This position holds the opportunity of heading the clinical research unit, and we expect a significant contribution to the further development of our clinical research unit in general.
