Consultancy in psychiatry combined with a clinical professorship in psychiatry with special focus on stress-related disorders and transcultural psychiatry.
A clinical position as consultant of psychiatry at the Mental Health Center Ballerup, the Mental Health Services in the Capital Region, is open for appointment as soon as possible.
The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of Psychiatry with special focus on stress-related disorders and transcultural psychiatry at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
With this new position the Mental Health Center Ballerup, the Mental Health Services in the Capital Region, wishes to strengthen the clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

About the Mental Health Center Ballerup
Mental Health Center Ballerup is a part of Copenhagen University Hospital and one of nine departments, that provide treatment for mental disorders in the Capital Region of Denmark. The department consists of ten inpatient wards comprising 157 beds, nine outpatient clinics with several specialized functions and research groups with focus on transcultural psychiatry, PTSD, and eating disorders. We employ around 90 medical doctors and 80 psychologists in addition to nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and technical and administrative staff.
Clinical functions and focus areas of the department
The department is responsible for all general psychiatric services in nine municipalities with a total of app. 380.000 citizens in addition to specialized functions within eating disorders, PTSD, treatment of traumatized refugees, and treatment of deaf patients.
Patients with stress-related disorders, mainly PTSD, are treated at the outpatient psychotherapeutic clinic (Psykoterapeutisk Ambulatorium), which has a specialized function for PTSD for the whole Capital Region, and at the outpatient clinic Center for Transcultural Psychiatry, which offers treatment for traumatized refuges and other patients for whom the cultural background has a particular impact on the manifestation and treatment of a mental disorder.
As a senior consultant, you are responsible for the assessment and treatment of a group of patients within Center for Transcultural Psychiatry in accordance with applicable legislation and guidelines. You conduct diagnostic assessments and treatment plans, initiate and follow up on pharmacological treatment and lead the clinical conferences and cooperation with the social sector and other health care facilities.
Research and teaching
With the new position as consultant in psychiatry and clinical professor of psychiatry the Mental Health Center Ballerup, the Mental Health Services in the Capital Region, wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.
Qualifications
Applicants must be board-certified specialist in psychiatry or child- and adolescent psychiatry.
Conditions
In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at the Mental Health Services in the Capital Region.
Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.
As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of Mental Health Center Ballerup. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the Mental Health Center Ballerup, the Mental Health Services in the Capital Region.
