Consultancy in Dermato-Venerology combined with a clinical professorship (chair) in Dermato-Venerology

A clinical position as consultant of Dermato-Venerology at the Department of Dermatology and Allergy at Copenhagen University Hospital – Herlev-Gentofte is open for appointment from as soon as possible.

 

The position is combined with a 10-year position as clinical professor (chair) of Dermato-Venerology at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

 

With this new position the Department of Dermatology and Allergy, Copenhagen University Hospital – Herlev-Gentofte wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.

 

It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for the appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

About the department

The department consists of two clinical sections: Dermato-venerology and Allergology. The Dermato-Venereological function covers all areas of dermatology and venereology with special functions in contact eczema, inflammatory diseases, and genetic disorders. The function has a large outpatient clinic with approximately 39,000 consultations per year, a large allergy laboratory, a venereal clinic with a drop-in function, and a treatment section with CO2 laser and dye laser. The Dermato-Venereological function has 11 specialist positions and 11 classified educational positions.

The department is active in research with 5 affiliated professorships in allergology, contact dermatitis, inflammatory skin disease, and hidradenitis suppurativa and infections. The department also has a comprehensive university function with undergraduate teaching, eight associate clinical professors, and currently 20-22 PhD students. Furthermore, the National Center for Allergy is affiliated. The department published more than 100 peer-reviewed international scientific articles in 2023.

 

Clinical functions and focus areas of the department

Clinically, the Department of Dermatology and Allergy has a highly specialized outpatient clinic, and the applicant is expected to see, handle, and take part in leadership to ensure high-quality clinical work for the highly specialized dermatological and venereological patients.

 

The philosophy of the department is to maintain a coherent unit delivering high-quality dermatologic treatment in the various subspecialties. Emphasis will be placed on qualifications within management, communication, and the ability to collaborate both interdisciplinary and with cooperating departments. The department has close collaboration with other departments at the hospital, in the region, as well as nationally and internationally.

 

Research and teaching

With this new position the Department of Dermatology and Allergy, Copenhagen University Hospital – Herlev-Gentofte wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.

 

Qualifications

Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Dermato-Venerology.

 

Conditions

In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Copenhagen University Hospital – Herlev-Gentofte.

 

Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.

 

As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g., research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of Department of Dermatology and Allergy. Support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the department of Dermatology and Allergy, Copenhagen University Hospital – Herlev-Gentofte.
