Consultancy in Clinical Oncology combined with a clinical professorship (chair) in Clinical Oncology

 

 

A clinical position as consultant of Clinical Oncology at the Department of Clinical Oncology and Palliative Care at Zealand University Hospital is open for appointment from as soon as possible.

 

The position is combined with a 10-year position as clinical professor (chair) of Clinical Oncology at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

 

With this new position the Department of Clinical Oncology and Palliative Care Zealand University Hospital wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.

 

It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

About the department

The Department of Clinical Oncology and Palliative Care is based in Roskilde and Næstved, and will move to Køge in 2026, merging into one location. The department has specialized functions within breast cancer, lung cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, urologic, gynecological cancer, head and neck cancer, and we have a survivorship clinic focused on late effects of treatment. The Department also houses a large radiotherapy unit. The Department has a strong research profile with a multidisciplinary approach. The Department of Clinical Oncology and Palliative Care has a strong focus on establishing a strong educational environment and is focused on excellence in cancer care.

 

Clinical functions and focus areas of the department

You will become part of the specialist oncology team with clinical function in the specialty's outpatient clinics and wards, where the distribution of work functions will take your interests and qualifications into consideration.

In the period up to late 2026, we are preparing to move into Zealand University Hospital (SUH) in the new hospital building in Køge. The planned merger of functions from Næstved and Roskilde will create a large oncology center, with a wide range of specialized and general functions, and support our goal of being among the frontrunners in oncological therapy in Denmark.

 

Research and teaching

With this new position the Department of Clinical Oncology and Palliative Care, Zealand University Hospital wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.

 

Qualifications

Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Clinical Oncology.

 

Conditions

In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Zealand University Hospital.

 

Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.

 

As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g., research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of Clinical Oncology and Palliative Care. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the department of Clinical Oncology and Palliative Care, Zealand University Hospital.
