Consultancy in Internal medicine: Endocrinology combined with a clinical professorship in Internal medicine: Endocrinology with special focus on diabetes precision medicine and data driven clinical quality
A clinical position as consultant of Internal medicine: Endocrinology at the Department of Diabetes Care at Copenhagen University Hospital – Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen is open for appointment from as soon as possible.
The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of endocrinology with special focus on diabetes precision medicine and data driven clinical quality at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copehagen.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

About the department
Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen (SDCC) is an internationally leading diabetes hospital in Region Hovedstaden. SDCC has five departments, Department for Diabetes Care, Department for Clinical and Translational Research, Department for Evidence and Quality Development, Department for Education and Department for Prevention, Health Promotion and Society. In the Department for Diabetes Care you will collaborate with approximately 160 dedicated employees organized in teams for type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes and other forms of diabetes, and specialist teams responsible for children and adolescence, precision medicine, eye clinic, foot clinic and nutrition.
The interdisciplinary collaboration between doctors, nurses, clinical dietitians, patient coordinators, bioanalysts, clinical researchers and development projects in health promotion research is prioritized and highly valued.
We have initiated numerous supplementary treatment initiatives with a focus on quality development of existing treatment offers and testing of new treatment concepts for people with diabetes.
SDCC focuses on education in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes and strives for broad understanding and acquisition of competencies in the adjustment and use of diabetes technology.
Clinical functions and focus areas of the department
You will provide outpatient treatment for adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes in an interdisciplinary environment in the Department of Diabetes Care. In addition, you will, together with staff and management at SDCC, help organize and implement quality improvements across the departments for the benefit of people with diabetes. With a focus on developing person-centered and innovative patient care, you will be tasked with focusing on strategic development and implementation of initiatives to improve the quality of clinical treatment, in collaboration with our Evidence and Quality Development Unit.
We need a candidate who has in-depth knowledge of both the clinical everyday life and an organizational understanding of value-based data-driven quality development. The position is combined with research and development within quality and precision medicine. We emphasize a good educational and teaching environment and therefore expect you to engage in internal teaching and help develop and implement new development projects.
Research and teaching
With the new position as consultant in Internal medicine: Endocrinology and clinical professor of Internal medicine: Endocrinology with special focus on diabetes precision medicine and data driven clinical quality at the Department of Diabetes Care wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.
Qualifications
Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Internal medicine: Endocrinology
The right candidate for the position is in addition:
• documented clinical experience in treating diabetes
• has documented research experience within diabetes corresponding to senior researcher level
In addition, we assume that you have interest in and experience as a mentor and supervisor and an interest in teaching.
Conditions
In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Copenhagen University Hospital – Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen.
Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.
As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g., research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of Department of Diabetes Care. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the department of diabetes care, Copenhagen University Hospital – Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen.
