Research Assistant (Psychologist) in Eating Disorders

Do you want to contribute to high-quality clinical research in eating disorders? Are you particularly interested in working directly with patients and conducting clinical assessments?

The Center for Eating and feeding Disorders Research (CEDaR) at Mental Health Center Ballerup, Herlev and Gentofte Hospital, is looking to appoint a dedicated psychologist research assistant to support ongoing clinical research projects in a maternity cover.

 

The position and tasks

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting clinical research activities at CEDaR, with a particular focus on data collection involving patients.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Conducting semi-structured diagnostic interviews with children, adolescents, and/or adults
  • Administering and scoring neurocognitive and psychological assessments
  • Participating in recruitment and coordination of study participants
  • Contributing to data collection, data management, and documentation
  • Supporting validation of assessment instruments and clinical measures
  • Assisting with data analysis and preparation of research outputs (e.g. reports, manuscripts)
  • Collaborating closely with clinicians and researchers across projects
  • Contributing to general research activities within CEDaR

The position will involve direct contact with patients and requires a high level of professionalism, structure, and sensitivity in clinical interactions.

 

Environment

The Center for Eating and feeding Disorders Research (CEDaR) is a multicultural and multidisciplinary team recently set up with a large portfolio of grants, across epidemiological, genetic, neuroimaging, and clinical intervention studies in feeding and eating disorders. We are a dynamic, collaborative, and international team, that is rapidly growing. The unit has several international collaborations with the UK, US, Sweden, Germany, Switzerland.

Research in eating disorders is a highly prioritized research area of the Mental Health Services in the Capital Region of Denmark. We have a strong commitment to perform research at the highest international level with the aim of providing new insights into what causes eating disorders and better treatments for patients.

 

Qualifications

We are looking for a motivated and reliable psychologist with a strong interest in clinical research and hands-on assessment work.

 

Essential qualifications include:

  • A master’s degree in psychology
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in Danish and English
  • Strong interest in eating and feeding disorders
  • Experience with, or strong motivation to learn, clinical assessment methods, including diagnostic interviews
  • Interest in or experience with neurocognitive testing
  • Ability to work independently, in a structured and responsible manner
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team

 

Desirable qualifications:

  • Prior experience in clinical or research settings within psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, or eating disorders
  • Experience with standardized assessment tools and test administration
  • Familiarity with data handling and basic data analysis

 

Conditions:

The position is expected to start in June or as soon as possible thereafter. It will be offered at 30-37 hours as a one-year maternity cover, with the possibility of extension.


Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisations.

About the Mental Health Center Ballerup

Mental Health Center Ballerup is a part of Copenhagen University Hospital and one of nine departments, that provide treatment for mental disorders in the Capital Region of Denmark. The department consists of ten inpatient wards comprising 157 beds, nine outpatient clinics with several specialized functions and three research groups. We employ around 90 medical doctors and 80 psychologists in addition to nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and technical and administrative staff.
