Specialist/Consultant in Neurology looking for job opportunities in Denmark?

Newly Created Position at Mid- and West Zealand Hospital for an Emergency Neurology Profile in Partnership with Rigshospitalet, The University Hospital of Copenhagen.

We are expanding our team of specialists at Mid- and West Zealand Hospital, Denmark as we develop a new emergency neurology profile. You will have a direct professional influence on our future emergency services and become part of a new, close partnership with Rigshospitalet.

• A strong research environment: We focus on patients with multimorbidity and have our own Professor of Neurology. Research is primarily focused on multiple sclerosis.

Your working day and responsibilities

Our department provides primary-level neurological services in the hospital at Slagelse (inpatient ward for phase II rehabilitation, primarily for apoplexy cases, as well as specialist clinics), and in the hospital of Naestved, where we run the Centre for Neurorehabilitation (CNN), which provides services at regional level.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Working in our outpatient department, specialist clinics or the interdisciplinary Memory Clinic, in collaboration with geriatricians, psychiatrists and neuropsychologists.
• Supervising junior doctors and participating in the multidisciplinary environment across our hospital sites.
• On-call duties: Our consultants currently cover the senior on-call function on site until 9.00 pm, followed by an on-call-from-home arrangement (there is junior on-call doctor is present on site around the clock).

About the department

Neurology is part of a combined department (Medicine 3 and Department of Physio- and Occupational Therapy) that works closely and efficiently alongside the Department of Geriatrics. We place a strong emphasis on professional dialogue and peer support within a group of doctors characterised by strong collegial relationships and a shared desire to develop the specialty.

Mid- and West Zealand Hospital is located around 60 min. by car from central Copenhagen.

An important part of working as a doctor in Denmark is communication between you and your patients and colleagues. For patient safety reasons, Region Zealand therefore requires our doctors to have a satisfactory level of Danish language proficiency. We therefore provide a language teacher for one-to-one tuition, enabling you to communicate with your patients as quickly as possible at a level where you can understand one another.

This means, that we expect you to be prepared to devote time to learning Danish, both spoken and written as part of your employment.
