CTU is an internationally recognised clinical intervention research unit specialising in clinical research methodology. We provide expertise and infrastructure for the planning, conduct, analysis and interpretation of methodological research projects, randomised clinical trials and systematic reviews across medical specialties.

About the position

The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to the design, conduct, analysis, and dissemination of clinical research within cardiovascular and cardiometabolic diseases, with particular emphasis on randomised clinical trials, platform trials, and evidence synthesis. The position combines clinical expertise with clinical trial methodology, statistical analyses, and systematic review methodology.

Key responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Design and contribute to randomised clinical trials, including platform trials, from protocol development through conduct, analysis, and reporting.
• Contribute to trial protocols, statistical analysis plans, sample size calculations, outcome definitions, and methodological development.
• Participate in Trial Management Groups and multidisciplinary trial teams, contributing to the planning, coordination, and execution of clinical research projects.
• Design, conduct, and publish systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and network meta-analyses of randomised clinical trials.
• Conduct and interpret statistical analyses using Stata and Trial Sequential Analysis.
• Apply established methodological frameworks, including risk-of-bias assessment and GRADE.
• Provide clinical expertise in cardiovascular and cardiometabolic diseases, including GLP-1 agonists and their efficacy, safety, and cardiovascular effects.
• Develop clinically relevant research questions and contribute to research protocols, scientific publications, grant applications, and development of new research projects.
• Coordinate research activities involving clinicians, statisticians, methodologists, students, and other collaborators, ensuring effective interdisciplinary collaboration and alignment between clinical questions and methodological approaches.
• Contribute to research across different clinical specialties and apply clinical trial and evidence-synthesis expertise to diverse clinical and methodological research questions.

Required qualifications

We seek a candidate with a combination of methodological and interdisciplinary research competencies, together with a clinical background.

• A master’s degree in medicine (cand.med.) and PhD within cardiovascular medicine, cardiometabolic disease, or a related field.

• Danish medical authorisation with permission to work independently as a medical doctor.
• Clinical experience within cardiology, endocrinology, and internal medicine.
• Substantial knowledge of GLP-1 agonists and cardiometabolic pharmacotherapy.
• Extensive practical experience with randomised clinical trial methodology, including platform trials.
• Experience participating in Trial Management Groups and multidisciplinary clinical research teams.
• Extensive experience with systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and network meta-analyses.
• Strong statistical competencies, including practical experience with Stata and Trial Sequential Analysis.
• Demonstrated experience in interdisciplinary clinical research and scientific publication across clinical specialties.
• Strong scientific writing, project management, and collaboration skills.

Place of employment: The place of employment is at the Copenhagen Trial Unit, Department for Clinical Intervention Research, Copenhagen University Hospital – Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, Denmark.

Terms of employment: The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week. This is a fixed-term position with a start date of 1 December 2026. The appointment will run for 3 years.
