Consultancy in Obstetrics and Gynaecology combined with a Clinical professorship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with special focus on Data-Driven Development and Cross-Disciplinary Implementation
The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.
The advertisement for the professorship is available from the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen https://jobportal.ku.dk/videnskabelige-stillinger/?show=165083
With this new position the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Zealand University Hospital in collaboration with Copenhagen University wishes to strengthen the focus on the multidisciplinary approach within Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
The consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology must combine strong clinical and academic expertise with a strategic understanding of how technology and data can be meaningfully applied in a modern healthcare system. The position requires insight into the development and implementation of data-driven solutions and AI-based technologies with a focus on patient safety, clinical workflows, and health-economic value.
Technological solutions should not be goals in themselves but must be used where they create real and tangible value for both patients and healthcare professionals. This requires a deep understanding of implementation processes, cultural factors, and the ability to ensure that innovation is both clinically relevant and cost-effective.
The position also demands the ability to work across surgical specialties and in interdisciplinary contexts both clinically and in research. Experience with or interest in international collaboration and networking is an advantage.
The ideal candidate is an innovative and collaborative leader who can engage cross-disciplinary environments and foster a culture where technology, clinical expertise, and organisational development go hand in hand.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department comprises of approximately 400 employees. At present, we have approximately 55 doctors.
The department is a part of Zealand University Hospital, the youngest university hospital in Denmark. The department is divided into 3 sections: gynaecology, obstetrics and fertility.
The Department provides a wide range of obstetric and gynecological examinations and treatments and is currently located in Roskilde and Nykøbing Falster, while the fertility clinic is based in Køge. The Department will be consolidated at the Køge site when the Roskilde site will move to Zealand University Hospital, expected in 2027. The site in Nykøbing is expected to remain as it is today.
Clinical functions and focus areas of the department
We handle approximately 3,200 births annually, with around 700–800 taking place in Nykøbing. Our responsibilities include managing births from week 28, prenatal diagnostics, pregnancies involving monochorionic twins, and pregnancies complicated by insulin-dependent gestational diabetes.
The department has a regional function in urogynecology, a significant general gynecological activity, a highly specialized function in the treatment of uterine cancer and is responsible for infertility treatment at the fertility clinic in Køge.
We have access to six operating rooms per week in the central surgical unit and six operating rooms per week in the day surgery unit at the Roskilde site. We also have a surgical robot available several days a week, primarily for uterine cancer surgery.
The department includes a 24/7 gynecological inpatient unit with 6–8 beds and an extensive outpatient service. The gynecological outpatient clinic performs minor procedures, including hysteroscopy and Botox treatments, in close collaboration with our specially trained nurses. In Nykøbing, we have four operating tables per week, a treatment room, and multiple obstetric and gynecological outpatient clinics.
Research and teaching
With the new position as a clinical professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology the Department wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research. In addition, the department wants to facilitate the education of the next generation of obstetricians and gynaecologists through focus on pre- and postgraduate education and training, e.g. in invasive diagnostics and therapeutics.
Qualifications
Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, preferable with long standing experience in this area and in pre- or postgraduate teaching.
Expertise in AI and data-driven healthcare, implementation science, medical education research, patient safety, change management, interdisciplinary collaboration, and technological insight will be valued.
